April 21, 2009, EDMONTON--Albertans now have improved access to information regarding ongoing programs that ensure compliance with our environmental regulations through a new website dedicated to Alberta Environment’s compliance and enforcement programs.

The website offers fast and easy access to information on the tools used to encourage and ensure companies and individuals comply with environmental legislation. The website supplements Alberta Environment’s other forms of communication and includes a quarterly summary of information on warning letters, administrative penalties or tickets/fines, and convenient access to bulletins for all enforcement orders, environmental protection orders and water management orders.

Information on prosecutions is also posted to the website within five working days of the charges being served. An information bulletin will be issued each time a charge is added to the site.

Alberta Environment focuses on education, prevention and enforcement to ensure all Albertans continue to enjoy a clean and healthy environment. When individuals, companies, or municipalities fail to comply with our legislation, Alberta Environment has a range of options depending on the offence to ensure compliance with our environmental regulations.
